SOLUTION OF A PROBLEM. (Rec. February 15," '5.5 p.m.) London, February 14. ■Lord Buckmaster'-s Committee on th«' Pre-war Contracts in the United Kingdom and Allied and Neutral Countries, which, has Eeen impeded by the war, reports that the best pbssible solution is by an ex-tension of the spirit of compromise, which lias already solved many difficulties. The committee does not favour cancellation by legislation or compensation, except where the loss involved has been due directly-to Government interference, nor does it recommend further legislative interference in the absenco of mofe convincing evidence than tlie witnesses "submitted that the existing law lias been tried and failed.—Aus.-N.Z.
