MASTERTON NOTES
At a meeting on Thursday of the Wairarapa Centre of the Farmers' Union, considerable discussion took place on the question of seedy wool. Mr. W. Hill, chief supervising wool valuer, and Mr. T. R. Lees,_ of tho Department of Imperial Supplies, were present, and gave information at their disposal, for which they were accorded a vote of thanks. As a result of a visit to the head works of the Masterton water supply system on Thursday, it is , probable that the expenditure of a sum of money will be authorised by tho Borough Council to ensure the permanence of the supply. An evening spoTts meeting was held bv tho Wairarapa Amateur Club on Thursday. ■ A 100 yards handicap was won by F. Gemmeil, and 440 yards hurdles by F. Kilmister. Oakley and Norman dead-heated in a two-mile bicycle event. At a meeting held in Knox Hatl, Masterton, on Thursday, it w«s_ decided to form a branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society. . Mrs. Carew-Smith was elected secretary, and Mr. F. T. Newcoinbe treasurer. Stock for the Masterton SlK>w,_to_be hold" next week, is already beginning to arrive. Mr. W. H. Buick, of Masterton, was n winner in the Roi»ney Marsh classes at the Dannevirke Show.
