MASTERTON NOTES
A sum of £16 6s. 6d. was taken at a concert in fllasterton on Wednesday evening in aid of the fund for furnishing the Returned Soldiers' Club. The "Wairarapa Age" learns on good authority that the Wairarapa seat is to be contested at the nest election by a well-known Wairarapa settler and sportsman, who has been Berving Ills country since shortly after the outbreak of war, and who was recently awarded the Military Cross. The Wairarapa Automobile Association is strongly urging the construction of a bridge over the Makakalii River at Kaiparoro, between Masterion and Eketahuna. Iu the final for the singles championship in connection with the Masterton Bowling Club, Staples defeated Robertson. . . So far no criminal cases have been set down for hearing at the March session of the Supreme Court in Masterton. The thermometer registered 88 degrees in the shade at Masterton on Wednesday.
