PRICE OF SCHEELITE
OFFICIAL STATEMENT. The Prime Minister is in receipt of cabled advice from the Imperial Goveminent, in response t-o repeated representations, that tho Ministry of Munitions is now prepared to increase tho price for New Zealand scheelite, delivered ex wareliouse London or Liverpool as from January 1 last, to sixty shillings per unit, less the customary reduction below Go per cent. WO3 awl J. per cent, brokerage. In addition the Ministry of Munitions will also allow compensation to producers for increased freights, war risk insurance, and charges, estimated to equal 3s. lOd. per unit. This compensation is being paid in connection with the present price, but the effect of tho new arrangement will be a l'cfc gain of at least live shillings per unit to producers, equalling nearly £18 additional per ton of scheelito containing 70 per cent. \VO3, which is about the average quality produced.
