HOW THE NEW ZEALANDERS ARE FARING MYSTERY IN PETROGRAD NO NEWS FOR SEVERAL DAYS Adrice from the Press Association states that the weather in Australia is wet, and that little cabled news is arriving. Beyond some lively fighting on the Meuse, the great Western front is calm, hut it is the calm heforo the storm, as the dispatches indicate. A mysterious veil has shrouded events in Petrograd since Wednesday last,'according to the date of the last dispatches received. The Ukraine peace settlement, now apparently a thing accomplished, has • given the Kaiser the occasion for indulging in one of his flights of ■ blasphemous oratory. ' It is hy no means certain, however, says Renter, that Great Britain will recognise the Ukraine settlement. The British Parliament has reopened after a brief recess. The King, in his Speech, said that a critical stage of the war is now at band.
