"FULL CRADLE"
' (To the Editor.) Sir,—Following tho writer of the aSove titled letter, I should like to draw the attention, of the Government and the Minister of Finance to the inconsistency of passing legislation to relieve parents of families from taxation, and then relieving them of the lesser burden, but doing nothing to remove the greater. Last year Parliament passed legislation allowing parents to claim exemption of £25 for each child on the ordinary taxation of Gd. in the £, but with strange .perversity refused to allow this exemption to apply to the greater war tax and super-tax of 9d. in the £. The Minister of Finance assured, us the other day that tho country was in a very strong position financially. If that-is so, what possible reason can he have for refusing to remove this anomaly and injustice? and allow parents to claim the exemption for children on all income tax, whether ordinary or war tax.—l am, etc., JUSTITIA FIAT, ETC.
