HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL
MONTHLY MEETING. 1 Councillors J.' Whitman (chairman), M. Welch, W. Howell, W. Galloway, P. 6. Cooper, and Patrick Kavanagh were present at the .monthly meeting pf the Mutt County Council held yesterday. The inspector of works (Mr. J. W. Cudby) reported that the decking in the bridge rienr Mr. Dick's, at Wai-nui-o-mafca, liad Ijobti renewed with totara as a cost of £11 ..4s. 6d. Some 504 feat of decking had also been laid on the Belratint Bridge, and 1804 feet of totara timber had been procured for kerbing. near Melting Siding. The decking bis also been renewed on the bridge near the ganie farm at Mungakotukutuka Valley, and some small repairs had been effected to' small bridges at Eeikiorangi. ' The old white bridge at Akataratva had Ibeen securely fenced off. and a suitable ford bad been prepared through Mr. Pratt's property, which" would meet with all requirements until a new bridge could be Greeted (barring when floods were on). The report Was adopted. ■ A draft of the new by-laws bearing on motor traffic, pedlars, and hawkers,, Conduct of biliiard-rooms, and vehicles •■plyingtfor"hire on- the county roads, Was passed. The by-law referring to the fees payable by vehicles travelling over the reads to rices and publio sports, are to be as follow:—For vehicles to carry more than 14 passengers, ss. per day; for vehicles to carry not more than 26 passengers, 305.-; for vehicles to carry more than •26 passengers, 155.; for ' every motorcar, 10s. At present these vehicles pay nothing at all for the right to ply for. hire over the county's Toads. Tho new by-laws are to come up for confirmation at /the next"''meeting of the coutfeil.
