The Hawko's Bay Farmers' Co-op. Assn. report- on the Uaunevirke sheep fair, held on Friday, as follows:—Our entry did noi uonie forward up to advertised numbers, as two or three lines were bold privately the day previously. We, however, yarded about 9DOu of all classes, of winch number ,we sold jiiet on 7COO, nearly all under tlio hammer. Prices for ewes were considerably below last year's high level?, but nevertheless much better than was generally anticipated a few weeks ago. Good young sheep were in demand, and we realised top price of the day with a very rnce pen i>f 54 two-tooth ewea ofiered on account of Jlr. M. P, Knight, and bought by Mr. Jiorval Speedy. Our next best sale was a line of 277 two, four, and six-tooth Lincoln-croes ewes, sold on account or Mr. T. H. ,L. Ifitehinirs to Sir. Don Bose at 33?. 9d. A particularly [rood line of four-year ewes wa.; passed in at. 325. lOtl.. and we failed to sell these afterwards at the owner's reserve. Wethers, which were offered last in the sale, met with particularly keen competition, prices exceeding vondore' reßerves by about 2s. per head. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd.. report:-Tlio annual ram fair was held in tho A. and V. Aisociation's grounds, Pahiatua, on Satur- j day. Though tiic entry was a fair one. it was considerably smaller than last year. Competition for good rams was fairly animated, hut inferior ones were neglected.
