MYSTERIOUS SILENCE AT BREST LITOVSK
STATEMENT BY LENIN STIR IN THE WEST ■INCREASING ACTIVITY ON BRITISH FRONT The Russian theatre of the war supplies the greater part uf the news to-day. Lenin says he has heard nothing from .Trotsky for two days. It is thought that the Germans are hiding some scheme behind a veil of silence. Agreement has been reached between the Central Powers and the Ukraine, which is now under the power of tho Soviets, and, so it is said, will henceforward enjoy independence as a member/ of the Russian Federation. Fighting is proceeding in Finland, where the "White Guards appear to be more than holding their own against the Reds. There is a perceptible stir on the Western front—prolonged and intense bombardments, air raids, and patrol fights. One pleasing result of tho Allies' Council of War at Versailles is that the German Press is extremely annoyed at the unanimity of purpose and will-to-win spirit displayed. The trial of 8010 Pasha, the master intriguer of the war, is throwing the light on some interesting if 'not very creditable facts.
