The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:—At Rangiotu sale on Monday we had a fair yarding, which sold as follow-,—Small mixed weaners, 265. Gd.; small weaner steers, 38a. 6d., £2; small yearling steers, £3 65.: store cows, £4, £5 55., £5 17s. 6d.; small cows with calves, £5 10e„ £5 12s. 6d.; forward cows, £9; fat cows, good. £12 17s. 6d.; eighteenmonth bulls, £5 125..6 d., £5 17s. 6d.; heavy bull, £10 15s. . Messrs. Dalgety and Company, -Ltd.,' report having offered a large yarding of sheep and cattle at their Levin sale on Tuesday. There was a marked improvement in the demand for all classes of stock, and practically the whole entry was cleared under the hammer, Quotations :—Fat. wethers, to 31s. lid.; fat ewes, 295. 6d.; four and six-tooth wethers, 28s. 6d.; forward wethers, 275. 4d. to 295. 9d.; medium woolly lambs, 155.; cull lambs, to lis.; three-year steers, to £12 10s.; one and a half-year steers, to £8 145.; yearling steers, £4 10s. to £6 155.; ootter bulls, £9 to £12.
The Hawke's Bay Farmers' Co-operative Association (Danucvirke) report a • most successful sale of Mr. H. J. Poole's 6tock on the farm, near Waione, on Monday. The sheep were particularly good, heavy clipping and big boned. Every lot waa keenly competed for, and last year's high values were reached with the four-tooth ewes, which made 405.; two-tooth ewes reached 365.; two-tooth wethers, 325. 4d.; and shorn lambs, 16s. and 15s. 9d. The rams were very keenly competed for, f.iri. Romneys making 72gns. the line, and Lincolns 12Jgns. for four-tooths, and 9gns. to sgns. for six-tooths. The cattle were also a creditable lot, and sold well, a line of I'.A. cows with calves making £19 ss. Following were the princinal sales:— 299 four-tooth ewes. 405.; 185 six-tooth ewes, 345. 4d.; JB9 five-year ewes, 28s. 6d.; 340 shorn ewe lambs, 165.; 44 P.A. cows and calves, £19 55.; 7 two and a half-year Bteers, £13 13s. 6d.; 7 cows and calveß, £17 55.; 316 two-tooth ewes, 365.; 51 fouryear ewes, 255. The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-nperativo Association, Ltd.. Pahiatua, report on their undermentioned stock sales as follows:.—At Woodvillc on Monday, we offered a good entry of both sheep and cattle, aud with the exception of a few pens we disposed of our yarding at prices satisfactory to vendors. At the Vnhiatua sain on Tuesday, held in the Hangahao yards, we offered a good yarding of all elapses of sheep and a few pens of cattle. Our sheep entry comprised mostly lambs, which ranged in quality from culls to good rape sorts. Tho presence of buyers from Itanawatu j and Wairarapa, who were keenly competing for best lines, improved the tone of the market, and a good sale resulted. With the exception of one pen of rwes we disposed of our entry at auction. Small lambs were not in puoh (rood demand ;is at previous sales. We report the following sales:—92 two-tooth wethers, 26«.; 115 two and four-tooth do., 30s. 7d.; 187 b.f. rape lambs, 17?.; 160 shorn Ttomney-cross do., 16s. 3d.; 90 b.f. shorn do., 15s. 10d.; 80 do., 12s. 10d.; 93 do. (medium), 135.: 80 do., 16s. 10d.; 106 medium woolly lambs. 15s. 10d.; 150 do., 155.; 145 do., 14s. 10d.; 130 shorn lambs 'early shorn, medium), 14s. Id.; 77 medium do., 10s. 10,1; 65 do.. 10s.
