A special meeting of tho Napier Borough Council was held to-night to consider charges brought by Napier trnniwaynnm against tho Ir.imwnvs manager, unci it was decided to hold an inquiry into tho whole matter. The mooting was a stormy ono, and partly iu committee On resuming iu open council tho Mayor (Mr. H. Bill) moved that Councillor A. M'Carthy (Deputy-Mayor) bo suspended. Councillor M'Carthy called tho Mayor "a d old woman," and then apologised. The Mayor refused tu accept the apology. ' ' After Councillor _ Mulvanah had moved that the police be *-ent for as Councillor M'Carthy refused to vacate his seat, the policeman was sent for, and Councillor M'Carthy dared tho constable to vemnrp him. The (onstable, however, assisted Councillor M'Carthy from his chair. Tho fatter took the constable's number and threatened proceedings against both the constable, and the council, lie then left tho room, and the meeting terminated shortly after.
