Ey Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, February 5. At a meeting of Maoris, which Sir .Tallies Carroll attended, held at Puketeraki last night, it was expected that the National Government's candidate for the Southern Maori scat would bo announced, but this was not done. Henare Parata, J. M._ Ellison, and Teoni Topi, who had indicated their intention of standing, were all present. After discussion, Sir , James Carroll stated that there were three candidates, Messrs. Parata, Ellison, and Topi, and the feeling of the meeting was that these three should go to tho poll.
