A TRIBUTE TO THE CHAPLAINS
Speaking ill tho House of Lords recently on tho vote of thanks to H.M. Forces, Earl Curzon said: "May I say ono word about tho chaplains of every Church and denomination, 2200 of whom aro serving with tho armies in tho field, giving the consolations of religion to tho living and performing tho last rites of the Church over tho dead? How gallant and perilous their service has been may bo shown by the fact that over seventy have been killed, many wounded, and mary others have died from disease, two have won the Victoria Cross, 130 have been decorated. and many more have been mentioned in dispatches." The Archbishop of Canterbury said that he noted with satisfaction tho reference made to tho .services of the chaplains, who had striven, again in the face of great difficulties, to fulfil the grandest task that could he given to men. •
