TOLICIC AND JIAINTENANCJi. CASES. .Mr. S. l'L M'Carthy, S.M., presided over ;i sitting of t'ho Magistrate's Court yesterday. Eor insobriety ifyra Donaldson, against whom there was 0110 previous conviction, was lined 205., in default seven days' imprisonment. Eor loitering in Frederick Street for immoral purposes, Annabelia Swanson was sentenced to twelve, months' imprisonment. There were twenty-eight previous convictions against the defendant lor various offences. William Bernard Cooliss, a soldier on home service, was convicted of using obscene language in I'ipitca Street, and was lined £5 with the alternative of serving one month in gaol. Charles Leatham, against whom it ■was alleged that while drunk on Saturday evening lie attempted to. strike ;i soldier, wjis fined £5, with the alternative of serving .one month in . I'Vir. using threatening behaviour ill liambton Quay while under the infjuence of liquor. David Ross was fined £■>, in default one month's imprisonment.

William Patrick Loo, against whom there were two previous convictions for drunkenness, was fined GOs., with the. option of fourteen days' imprisonment. Two first offenders were, each fined '205., in default forty-eight hours', imprison-, mont. Another, a. soldier, was ordered to lie handed over to tho military authorities; and. a fourth, a seaman, who was very ..noisy, was remanded until, to-dav.

A prohibition . order was . issued against John Antonio Nover. William Louis Allen, i-hoso maintenance payments were in arrear £!), was sentenced to three months' imprisonment) warrant not to issuo unless applied for by complainant. George Henry Taylor, whose arrears totalled £3, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, warrant not to issue unless applied for by complainant. Hubert Hrodericlc applied for the cancellation of a maintenance order and remission of arrears. The application was dismissed.
