With a view of further improving its trans-Pacific service, the Nippon Yusen Kaislia is considering the-extension of the route followed by the vessels of its Puget Sound . fleet, to include Vladivostok. This extension of the company's North Pacific service depends, however, on tho outcome* of tho Russian revolution, as the ves6el6 of t.he fleet will not, be routed via Vladivostok until the political situation in Russia clears and order is restored. The Nippon Yusen Kaisha is also planning a new steamßhip line connecting Puget, Sound and ports in Australia, Sydney and Melbourne will probably be the centre of this line, with vessels plying to ports in Japan, and to Seattle, Tacoma, Victoria, and Vancouver (8.C.). Waterside workers are not finding much employment on the Auckland waterfront at_ present. For some timo work amongst shipping has been very quiet, owing to the small number of outside vessels visiting Auokland. During this week shipping will be a little busier, but not sufficiently to emnloy half the labour oßcring (says the "Herald"). Steamers advertised to sail yesterday, and postponed to to-day on account of a shortage of labour or the large auantlty, of cargo offering, were: Waverley, Hawera," and Kapuni. for Patea: Calm, for Wanganui; Karu, for Nydia Bay and lyttelton; Wakatu, for Kaikoura and Lyttelion; and Putiki, for Timaru and Dunedin. The Huia, sailinj to-day for Wangantii, New Plymouth, and Waitara. has only space for .Wancanui cargo, which will be received until J D.m.
