The Karori and Suburbs Defence Hiile Clubs tired teams' matches at Miramax on Saturday at ranges 300, 500, and 600 yards. .Tho weather conditions were not good for largo scoresj wind and light being troublesome,, the win being in favour ofvthe Suburbs Club. The best shoot for tho day was by Ilflmn. G. Tinney with 94, ho just missing a possible at 600 yards. The next host scores were J. Smart 92, Hunt 91, and Boon 90. At the conclusion of the match tho secretary of the Suburbs. Club took the opportunity to say a few words in support of rifle shooting. He urged riflemen to assist in keeping their club togother by increasing their membership, each member, say, secure ono new | member for his club. If members did not bestir themselves rille clubs would go under. The New Zealand Rifle Clubs' Executive are now-, working hard to keep tho' old flag flying, and make rifle shooting in New Zealand tho_ Dominion's national sport. The objects of tho N.Z.R.C.B. is to encourage and teach every man how to use his rifle, and with this object attained, mako ovory man a valuable asset in the defence of his country. Riflemen throughout tho country have, responded nobly to the nation's call, and when tho returns are compiled showing how many riflemen have enlisted for service, home and abroad, tho public of New Zealand will then recognise the valuo of rifle clubs. President Judd. ou returning thanks to the Suburbs Club, endorse ed the Suburbs' secretary's remarks,' Ho pointed outto the members present that many clubs in New Zealand were almost out of existence, owing to tho enlistment of their members. It is now recognised in England that members from rille clubs: have made excellent snipers, musketry instructors, and machine gunners. Cheers were exchanged •between the two teams.
