TYPOGRAPHICAL UNION
Considerable interest was evidenced by members of the Wellington Typographical Union this year in the election of officers, and there was an unlisually large attendance at the meeting on Saturday evening, when the result of the ballot was announced. The different officers were elected as follow:—President, Mr. C. H. Chapman; vice-president, Mr. T. M'lntyre; secre-tary-treasurer, Mr.' J. W. F. M'Dougall (■unopposed); trustees, Messrs. A. A. Freeman and D. Ryrie; auditors, Messrs. F. R. Curtis and G. A. Duncan: board members, Messrs. R. H. Stickney, R. E. Vaney, and E. E. Lewis. It was unanimously decided to protest against any further prolongation of,the life of the present Parliament, and the tecretary was instructed to forward a copy of the resolution of protest to the Prime Minister The meeting instructed the incoming Board of Management to take steps to call a conference of the trade and by negotiation with the employers endeavour to have the conditions and wages of hand compositors in New Zealand improved.
