MONEY MARKET The Bank of England discount rate was on- January 2, 1914, reduced from 5 to 4J per cent., on January 22 it was rr>.'uced to 1 per cent., and on January 23 to 3 per cent. On July JO the rate was ra'sed to 4 per coat., on July 31 if was raised to 8 per. cent., and on Auguet 1 it was further advanced to 10 per cent. On August 6 the rate waa reduced to 6 per cent., on August 7 it vae further roduced to 5 por cent., on July 13, 1916, it was raised to 6 per cent., on January 12, 1917, it was reduced to 51 per cent., and on April 6 it was further reduced to 5 per cent.
