EXPERTS TO SEEK ADVICE FROM AYOMEN ON INTERIOR 1 OOiNSTItti'CTION. The "new house" after, the war, if designed on the lines recommended in an interim report by tho Technical Conference set up by the National Housing and Town Planning Council, should be a great improvement on that which oxists to-day, states the "Daily News." 'Die conference is satisfied that if the 300,000 new houses suggested are erected in the year after the war the buildin s trade'rill be greatiy taxed, and they say 't .will ho necessary for the occupants to pay higher rents. They recommend that the houses should bo broad rather than deep. : n order to give ample light, that threo bedrooms and n parlour f.honld be provided, and that each house should have a bath, with provision for hot water supply. They also recommend that women should be called to give nssistiuico in regard to details of interior construction, such as stairs, cupboards, larders, and storage accommodation. Schemes must not be carried into effect under the old conditions of layout. Tho number of housns per aero in urban schemes should not exceed ten and in rural planning pardens of not less than one-eighih. of ai. -acre should be provided. While members of the conference are opposed to the standardisation of houses, they are convinced that the possibilities of tho standardisation of component parts are very grcsat.
