« AN EN'JQUULf: OUTING. Tlio stall' of the "Wolliiipton City Council lieltl its annual picnic at Day's Bay .vcsterday in line weather. In tho city the southerly brqezc blew rather keenly throughout tho day, hut in the sheltered hay the conditions ivoro well-nigh perfect, and everyone had a good time. There were spoijts for children and adults, 'games tor those energetically disposed (including bouts of tennis on tho municipal courts), and bathing,' whilst others sought, tho quiet beauty of the bush tracks, which are showing to particular advantage at the present time. Indeed, lor curly February, Williams r»rk is more picturesque in its vernal glories than for some years past, thanks to tho occasional showers that have fallen recently. Among tlioso present were: Tho Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) ' and Mrs. Luke, tho City Engineer (Mr. W. 11. Morton), the Town Clerk (Mr. Jno. It. Palmer, Councillor Geo. Frost, and the City Valuer (Mr. James Ames). Under the able supervision of Mr. James Doyle and members of the. committee a programme of sports ■ was arranged, and successfully, carried, out.. The results were aa follow:'< - ■ Nail-driving competition—Mrs."ltyah. Egg-and-spooit race—Mrs, H. Tait. Cigarette race —Miss Adair. Drawing the peg—Miss Adair, 1; Mrs. Calcinai, 2. Tbread-tlie-needlc race —Mrs. Calcinai, 1; Mrs. Ryan, 2. Boot race—Mr. Ryan. There were also numerous events lor the children, all of whom eventually secured prizes.
