MEASLES IN CAMP

~ ; - MANY- MEN ISOI-ATED. . An. outbreak, of measles at FeatherEton Camp has made necessary the isolation.of a considerable number of men The sickness doea not appear to have assumed a serious form, but the !; patients and the, contacts have all to bf Kept entirely! separate from the otliei men in training, in accordance, with the rule that has been' enforced for some time past. ' The epidemic happens to have involved many men belonging to the senior reinforcement at present ir training, and" the departure of this reinforcement from New Zealand has been delayed in consequence. The camps have been remarkably fret from epidemic sickness during tile last twelve months. This fact is attributable to tlio precautions that have been taken'under the direotion of the DirectoijjGeneral of Medical Services. Experience showed that most of the_ sickness originated outside the camps, and all'.recruits are now examined ■ verj .carefully on their arrival in camp by the, medical, officers in order ,that incipient 11 illness and "carriers" may be detected. Prompt isolation is the rule in all cases of illness, and full use is made of the inhalation chambers, where throat infection is treated in a .way - that has been very. effective.
