THE U-BOAT WAR ON AMERICAN SHIPS
171,000 TONS SUNK LAST YEAR, New York, January 30. The Germans sank 69 American ships, mostly sailing vessels, last year, totalling 171,000 gross tons. % This is offset by tho American seizure of 515,000 tons of German vessels. Ame--ica has also requisitioned 426 ships, totalling 2,000,000 tons, and has awarded contracts for 884 new vessels.— Eeuter.
