ESTIMATED DAMAGE A MILLION AND A HALF. . Brisbane, January 31. The damage at Mackay is estimated to amount to £1,500,000. The total number of casualties is .120, including 20 deaths. Heavy general rains are falling, and, coming on the top of the already rainy season, are causing considerable damage to fruit and wheat crops.—Press Assn. CYCLONIC STORM OFF NEW SOUTH WALES COAST. (Rec. January 31, 9.20 p.m.) Sydney, January 31. A cyclonic storm developed on the coast of New South Wales, causing gales, heavy rain, and rough seas.
