There has been an important devclopI ment in the North Blackwater (Zieman's I Syndicate). The main shaft has been completed to a depth of 1360 feet. Cross-cut-I ting has commenced at this depth and will intersect the well-known Blackwater lino of reef. An eighteen-fect leader si* inches wide, showing visible gold, was cut at 119 feet. A strong well-defined reef, 16 inches >vide was passed. Four assays of tho stone from the reef give a satisfactory average— loz. 14dwt. 14gr. of gold to the ton. Crosscutting _is still in progress to intersect the main Blackwater reef, which is expected to be met within a total distance of 300 feet from the. shaft. ■ The development is the most important on the field for several yoars. SYLVIA REEFS, LTD. The mine manager reports as under for tho week to January 26:-"Thc drive on tho reef north of the main crosscut was advanced 17 feot, A fault has been met with and tho reef haa faulted. We are crosßcutting in the footwnll and are in 6 feot. In the south end stoping has been carried out on the main reef and H.W reef, the ore being fairly well mineralised In eaoh.
