[ Sir—Tho public'are given to understand that tho desire "of. the British born, their children, and children's children,.. dwellir.K in tip Dominion, to havo the dirty stain of German and Austrian names removed from tho maps of New Zealand, was condemned at the New Zealand Institute by the president, Professor Benham. The New Zealand Institute may enter as strong a protest against removing the disgraceful ugly, and humiliating blot as they can, hut 1 trust the Government will disregard their opinions and accede to.the wishes of.the great majority of rational and patriotic New Zealanclers, and wipe off the map of this Dominion I all Gorman and Austrian names, sub- ! stitu'ting Maori or good clean British I names.—l am, eta., !
