The insurances are:-Stock £3300 and plant £400, m the Northern Office; buildings, £900, m the Loudon and Lancashire Ofiice. h is estimated that the company's losu over stock is considerable, but, the buildings were not damaged piuch. Later in the morning a,fire occurred in a block of buildings in Manchester Street, next to the Excelsior Hotel. The fire started in the back of a fruit shop occupied by Miss Garland, which was badly damaged, together with the first floor, but the brigade prevented the lire, spreading. The shop was insured for £500 in the Union of -Canton Office. ACCOMMODATION- HOUSE DESTROYED. By Teleßraph-l'ress Association. 1 Dunedin, January 30. Earlv this morning premises known at Koiberg's accommodation House as J'ounawea were totally destroyed by lire all the contents being consumed. Mr. Kolburg died a lew years ago, and Mrs. Kolbwg carried on the place smco her husband's .death, but recently her own illness and that of her principal assistant comoclled her to close down tho establishment which was, therelore, untenanted, so that the origin ol the, outbreak is a mystery, ihc damage done is estimated at £1200. on pre-war prices, and against this it is said Jiero is an insurance policy for iiOO. A bucket brigade prevented the names from spreading to a detached waslibouso.
