The attention of Mr. Lyttlcton Groom, Federal Acting-Minister for Defence, n'.is recently called to a paragraph i i the New' Zealand Press, setting out, that "the first part of the Thirty-Mist Reinforcements had arrived at a port of call, all well." Mr". Groom was asked if such information might not be highly acceptable to friends of men on the transports, while at the same time serving to silence rumour*' regarding disasters to the soldiers' boats. The Minister replied that it was a matter for the Naval Department,'hi whose hands all transpoit arrangements were. Mr. Cook, Minister for the Navy, to whom the matter was referred, said it appeared tc him a good suggestion. He would cortainlj liavo inquiries made as to whether or not there was any -objection. If none existed, he would give insiruction;, to 1 have it done.
