In brood mares the holiest prico ootained was 600 guineas for Straga, (Idm ol Hymestra, piuchased by \Y. Cooper, Masterton. The text highest was for Sinvis, purchased l;y I'. Ormond, for 150 guineas. Tn stallions, King Far!: was purchased by J. Onnond for 400 guineas: raettus by W. Cooper, Maslertou, for 325 guineas; Birkdalo l.y H. A. llussell, Hastings, for 350 guineas.' A bay gelding, 6yrs., was purchased by H, 11. Canipboll for 200 gjineas, and a bay mare, 4yrs., waß purchased by Mr. iliggina. for 140 guineas. A bay gelding, Aldwych, realised 170 guineas, and was purchased by Mr. M'ljaughlin; a filly by Demosthenes—Temerind brought 160 guineas, purchased by Ph. Barrow; a year-old filly by Demosthenes—Hatty, 180 guineas, purchased by W. »J. Douglas. Tho top price in yearlingß was for a Ilymcttus -Straga filly, 400 guineas, purchased by A. Ditto, Silver Link, and Fionualla were dual winners at the Takapuna. Meeting., After the disposal of Matilda and Ayah litst week an idea got- abroad that tho Messrs. Biddiford were anxious to dispose of aevoral of their remaining team. Nit merous offers were received for Mascot, Cooing, and Exclusive, but they v/ere turned down. Last week a patron of H. Kingan's Btables was anxious to treat for the purchaso of Seadown, but the owner would not put a price on the Downshire gelding, who later on will he schooled over fences. Mr. A. Rore, who is to contest the southern Miori seat, is a well-known Blenheim owner, and haß raced horses for liutiiy years. , Fionualla, winner of the big handicap at Takapuna yesterday, was also successful on Saturday. She is one of the Useful Spalpeen breed, and has now scored three times on end. . There will be a good representation of locally trained horses racing at Pahiiiniii this week. 0. Pritchard is taking Advanceful and- Thoughtful, J. Ayres goes up witli Justification, and J. M'Laughton with The Golfer. . . J. W. Lowe has taken in hand a three-year-old Bonlform filly, to prepare for racing. He is also taking iip a two-year-old full-sister to Demagogue purchased by the Messrs. Biddiford from Mrs. M. A. Perry, who bred tho youngster. Silver Link proved yesterday that her win on Saturday was no fluke by carrying Bat. 131b., and winning over a furlong further. The Ally .is one of tho last of the progeny of Achilles, and in her Mr. A. Alexander would appeat* to have a very useful sort. ~, , , .
