SIX MATCHES A DAY
LONDON CLUBS AND HOTELS TO USE SPILLS. ■ Every adult in the London community is promised six matches a day, and, as Mr. Wardle said in the House of Commons recently, that ought to suffice for all reasonable needs. In lSjls the consumption was approximately 3000 million boxes, enough to provide every man, woman and child with 11-3 boxes a week. The deliveries for last week 'were 32 million boxes, -'equal to two-thirds of a box a week for every person, or one box for every adult. This would provide from 6 to' 7 matches a day for each grown-up person. Every citizen should confine his use of matches to six a day. Clubs, hotels, restaurants, and publichouses which have fires in the public rooms are to bo asked to provide spills instead of matches for their patrons.
