ENEMY AERODROMES AND BILLETS BOMBED POSITIONS NEAR LENS CAPTURED London, January 25. Sir Douglas Haig reports: "There is hostile artillery fire houtli of tha River Scarpa and near Passchendaele. Our aeroplanes bombed aerodromes near Courtrai and Ghent. The Ghent aerodrome was used by enemy niglit fliers. We also bombed billets at Roulers. All our machines returned."—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. I Sir Douglas Haig reports:—"The enemy raided a post south of Fontaine les Crosilles. An enemy party was driven off northward of Passchendaele. The hostilo artillery is active at Havrincourt and Poelcapelle. There is hard air fighting all along the line, greatly in our favour. We brought down sixteen machines. Olio of our machines is missing. Our niglit fliers yesternight dropped eight tons of bombs, bombing five large aerodromes in the neighbourhood of Ghent and billets in the vicinity of Douai. One hundred and sixtv bombs were dropped on a new serodroiiio westward of Tonrnai. i All the machines returned."—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn .-Renter. RAIDS BY BRITISH AIRMEN. (Rec. January 27, 5.5 p.m.) London, January 26. Sir Douglas Haig reports: "There is aviation activity on the northern front. Wo dropped ever three hundred bombs on Courtrai, Ledeghen, aud Douai railway stations, an aerodrome at Courtrai, and billets westward of Cambrai. Our night fliers bombed aerodtomes and billets at Ghent, Courtrai, and Roulers. All of them returned. Wo also bombed Mannheim factories, hitting a factory and docks in tho town, also barracks and a. railway station at Troves, steelworks at Thionville, and railway stations at Saarbrucken and Oberbillig. A special correspondent on the British front says the British have taken over more of tlio French line. The British front now extends to slightly south of St. Quentin.—Reuter. ON THE FRENCH FRONT (Rec. January 27, 5.5 p.m.) London, January 26. A French communique status: "There is a lively artillery duel at Caurieres Wood, wliero an enemy raid failed. — Aus.-N.Z.
