(From Our Special Correspondent.) A brighter tone prevailed at tho stock sales in Masterton on Wednesday than has boon noticeable for some time past. Tho total receipts from tho Masterton gasworks, for tho December month amounted to £1404 25., which is an increaso of £75 compared with the same month- in the previous year. Tho second round of the shield competitions in connection with the Masterton. Bowling Club will commence-on Saturday week. Tbo Booth Cup niatclies will he resumed on the following Thursday. The. harvesting of wheat has been commenced in some parts of tho Wairarapa. Tho yield is likely to bo heavy. .".'•''
