NEW ZEALAND MEAT IN ENGLAND
- NOMINATION SYSTEM RESTORED. The following telegram has been received by the Prime Minister from the High Commissioner on the subject ot the threatened action of the Food Controller to take over the distribution ot New- Zealand meat in London, and to put an end to the system by which the distribution was done by or _ through agents nominated by the shippers of the meat from this country. The telegram runs:— : v • , . . "I' am pleased to be able to inform you as the result of representations and subsequent conferences satisfactory conditions have been established. * The distribution of meat for civilian' consumption will be made by the Food Controller through the usual nominated agents; and when possible through the usual subsidiary channels, tho nominated agents acting as an advisory committee, and being represented on the Food Ministry by L. A. Niooll. Following terms of sale decided: (1) Price of frozen mutton and lamb to the retailer to be Hid. (2) [Agents to receive 2 per cent, commission, and when meat goes through the wholesaler, the latter to receive 2i per cent, discount. (3) All meat rusks at store weights, with, no hate or other ' allowance."'. . . ■
