EX-QUEEN LILIUOKALANI'S FUNERAL
ANCIENT HAWAIIAN CEREMONY. With all the pomp and ceremony of tho ancient Hawaiian funeral ritual, befitting the last monarch of the islands, who bad held tenaciously to tho traditions of her former domain, exOueen Liliuokalani was buried in the Huuana cemetery on November 19 last. Practically tho entire population of the city lined the route from the throne room, whero the funeral.services wero held, to the burial ground, while the procession, containing 5000 . persons,
passed. • The United States Government war officially represented by Senator Henry TC. Asliurst, of Arizona, and its armed forces. Scores of Hawaiian organisations sent delegations to escort the body. The procession included infantry, cavalry, and artillery units of the regular army, the National Guard, School Cadets, Japanese societies, Boy Scouts, and nmny natives. The catafalque was drawn by L'lo native Hawaiians, surrounded by sixty kahili bearers attired in tho primitive feather cloaks of tho time- of King Kamehamelm. Prince and Princess Kalanianaole wero tho chief mourners.
The body of tbo ox-monarch was enclosed in a rich Koa casket, upon' which lay a wreath sent by President Wilson.
