ISOLATED BY THE FLOODS
INUNDATIONS IN QUEENSLAND SERIOUS CRISIS AT ROCKHAMPTON Brisbane, January 24. Definite news from Mackay, which has been cut oft by floods, is anxiously awaited. It is now certain that tho town .received the full force of tho cyclone. Tho lighthouse at Flat-top was demolished. Practically all trains have been stopped owing to washaways. , The full force of the storm was felt at Rockhampton,'where great damage has been done. The town is completely isolated, the flood-waters being some inches above the record, and still rising. A woman, two children, and three men have been drowned. Tho disturbance is now travelling west. It is feared that Clermont, 375 miles north-west of Brisbane, is flooded. All coastal shipping is sheltering—Press Assn. LATEST TO-DAY (Rec. January 24, 8.10 p.m.) Brisbane, January 24. News from the flooded area is very scrappy. There apiiearsto ho no improvement in the situation. All communication is interrupted, and Mackay's fate is still unknown.—Press Assn. .
