Ashford, State Win- : ister of Lands, addressing the Producers' Conference, advocated rallying the wlioat area to a minimum sufficient to meet the domestic requirements of New South Wales, and Queensland, owinp to the financial and shipping problems. "If we cannot have meat end ' wool as well as wheat," said the Minister) "let us have whichever is most satisfactory in all phases of production and profit'."—Press Assn. Contrary, to Mr. Ashford's advice, Professor Lefroy, the Biitish Government's wheat representative, told the conference of producers that the sound policy for Australia wsts to cultivate the largest stock of wheat possible, in order to meet a terrific food shortage after the'war. Wheat could be saved from weevils if stoied '; properly, and. keep indefinitely. Ho f guaranteed that it would keep for at east five years.—Press Assn. ■
