A good deal of conjecture will exist in regard to this year's potato prices, in view of the experience of last senson, when the market failed to realise the high values that were anticipated in certain quarters, states the "Manawatu Standard." A few davs ago a Palmerston business man. who has been in close touch with the potato market for years, made an offer of £5 10s. per ton to a district grower, to fill a large order. The offer was refused, the grower statin" that if he could not get at least i'l per ton he would leave the tubers in the ground. Those "in the know" d" not anticipate high prices at any part or the coming season.

A Cnrringtnn farmer was fined £9 nnd costs at the Magistrate's Court nt Carterton, for failing to lake reasonable steps' to destroy the rabbits on his pnnerty. It was resolved at the meeting; of the general committee of the Psihia+.u? A. and P. Association on Saturday that the points won in connection with the annual milking comnetition count in the points prize for the show. The nrpsident reported that everything was in better order at the show crowds than it had ever been. A working bee had put in several hours' bard work cutting thistles, eto. The appointment of a man to erect the yards, etc., was left to the president!
