THE FIELD REVIEWED
Very satisfactory acceptances have been received, for the different events at the Wellington. Racing Olub's Meeting to-day. The racing will <-omraence at 11.30 a.m. with, the JUjingaroa Welter Handicap, ono f 1 ji , " alt ' e Song, who was not. well Handled on the opening, day, may reverßO positions with Yascovia and Pervolo, the place-getters in the Apprentices' Handicap. Imaribbon may -.el a lot better today as_ the race will improve her, and aprofessional on Missouri may "auae Ibo Danube Ally to act better to-day. Multicipal, who heads the handicap in. the Open Welter Handioap, was not, produced on Saturday, but tho Mhrton Cup winner iB sure to go well to-day, won BO decisively on Saturday that his backers may again entrust him with their support. Wishful .got a bad passage on the opening day, and Gold Soult's form was too bad to ho true.
Demoa, the top weight in the Fitzherbert Handicap, was a mnner in the Wellington Stakes, five furlongs, and has only beaten in the last fow strides. Ho appears to be "oming on with, racing, and may go out favourite to-day. Eleus and War llarcli are likely ones to improve en their first day's form. . - j Nobleman won tho Wellington Cup so deoisivcly that despite a rise of 141b. be will.not lack support again to-day. Adjutant meets him on 141b. better terms, nnd this concession should make for a keen struggle between the pair. Menclaus and Seadown are fresh horaus but their publio form-at Ellerslio did not tuggest them ob likely to do well to-duy. Vagabond ran one good raco at and may show up to-day, and if the'Oup race has. not got to "he bottom oi Miss do Tal's condition she, too, will bo prominent at the finish.
Chimera, who is No. 1 in tho. Camp Handicap, is expected to be scratchcd and produced later in the day. Bon d'Jr ib hardly ready, and Lovesick waS thought good enough to raco in the Wellington Stakes, which should entitle her (o consideration for a hack race. Imaribbon and Street Singer are a. couple araougst tho light-weights that can go very last over five furlongs. . Poßt Haste can gallop very fast, but ho is not too reliable at'the barrier.
Bagdad and Paddington Green, the place-getters in the Trial Plate, are to meet in tho Douro Cup. ono mile. On Saturday there was 131b. between the pair, and to-day tho difference- is only 41b. This ' Bhould bring them together arid the extra furlong will suit tho New Plymouth, horse, though Bagdad teemsto bo on the upward grade, and had he been extended on Saturday he would probably have gone fast enough to equal a milo in lmin. 40seo. This would be a pretty good Donro Cup trial.
Tho absence of Hymestra from the Relburn Plato is to bb- regretted, as the meeting botween him, Desort Gold, and Croesus promised .to ,bo most exciting. The two last-named will now fight their Electric. Plate struggle over again. Tho .presence of Koesian, Nanna, 80-Peep, -and Demagoguo will lend additional interest to tho race. ■ • ■
Wrestler has gono up lllh. for winuing tho Telegraph Handicap,, and as he is coming on with racing he will no doubt ho well fancied for the concluding e\fciit to-day. Chimera may also receive strong support-,
FOXTON MEETING
■The .Foxton Meeting is to bo a oneday gathering this year. The accept andes.are quite satisfactory, and the. contests should be exciting. 'i In tho Haclt Hurdles Miss Sation will be ridden by L. Traill and Want by S. Reid. . Tho form of Want behind Colorado at Awapuni may bo sufficient to l>end tho Penury gelding out favourite. • . Tho Auatralian-bred Turangapito is engaged .in two races, but the Prudent King gelding will most likely start in iho Himitangi Hack Handicap, sit furlongs, and he and Vermilion may be the pubic fancies.
Trials has won at his last two starts, and as ho ia always a better horse for a raco ho may go out favourite in the Cup. Rude has been racing most consistently of late, and the sandy track , at Foxton should suit his Btyle of galloping.
Though placed several times First Lino has yet to win a, race. . Tho black rirre from Fordcll will,:be more seasoned than the other Btarters for the Maiden Hack race.
Paparess and Arihia can both get the distanco well in the Awahou Hack We'tcr Hapdicap, and Waimatao's form at Trcntham may ensure liim being a strong order for the Anniversary Handicap of eix furlongs.'
Coolpan "was reported to have been unlucky not .to beat Demos at Marton, and if so the fopm of tho two-year-oid at Trentham enhances the prospects of the Pordell representative in the Dash Handicap to-day. " Glorify, who is to be ridden ljy B. JTatcb, may have most supporters in the Herrington Welter Handicap. PAHIATUA ACCEPTANCES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Pahiatua, January 21.
