LATEST INDICATION OF WAR INTENTIONS CONQUEST IS GERMANY'S AIM New York, January 20. i'lie New York ''Sun's" London correspondent has received advices through a neutral that Gormany no longer pietends to wage a defensive war. t-1 o frankly avows that conquest is her aim. The whole Press reflects this cliaiigtcl attitude. The Vienna "Fremden Blatt" semiofficially states that Austria aims at a peace without annexations. "We do not intend to incorporate the occupied districts, but will not tolerate any Russian revolutionary chaos in newly-created independent States, or the spread of tho Russian revolution to Austria." —Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. BAVARIANS AND PRUSSIANS AT ODDS (Rec. January 21, 6.50 p.m.) Amsterdam, January 20. Tension between tile Bavarians and Prussians is strained. Count von Hertling's appointment was intended to quieten the Bavarians, but it did not succeed, and their demands are increasing. German troops from Russia are being employed at their utmost in order to keej) their minds off- the Maximalist doctrines, the prevalence of which is causing anxiety to the commanders. One German division has been sent from Belgium to Russia — "The Times." INTERNAL CRISIS IN AUSTRIA , RUSSIAN PROPAGANDA AT WORK. Berne, January 20. News from Austria shows that the strikes and demonstrations are strongly political. The food question, Jiough grave, is only a secondary matter. Anti-German feeling has become intense since Herr Hoffmann's annexationist declarations at Brest Litovsk. Hussion propaganda is evidently working in Austria. The circulation of the "Arbeitcr Zeitung" has been prohibited outside the country. The latest issue available states that the strikers have formed a permanent committee to deal with the situation. Paris, January 20. The strike outbreak is general throughout Austria., One hundred thousand men are idle in \ienna. "ho Neustadt workers' delegation informed General Stofer that the strike movement was based on political and economic grounds, and was especially aimed at peace.
