11 r. S. E. Al'Cm-tliy. S.M., was on Uio bench at the Magistrate's Court on Saturday, and dealt with the polico case's. Fur insobriety, n voluble old lady, who protested her innocence, was convicted and fined 2Us.,in default twentyfour hours' ■ imprisonment, and was also ordered to pay 17s. (id. medical expenses. Three other first offenders were lined 10s. each, with the option of serving twenty-four hours in gaol, and another who failed to appear, had his bail of 20s. slreated. Elizabeth lAl'.Karlano, alias Bessie M'Farliine, was charged that being the occupier of certain premises she did keep the said promises as a house of ill-fame, contrary to tho War Regulations. She was remanded to January '23, nnd bail was allowed in £100 and two sureties of £50 each.
