In the light of tho experiouco of a well-grown youth who reaohed Ashburton from the North Island last week in search of employment in tho harvest field, it would appear that farmers are not going to tako any risk with respect to tho engagement of raon eligible for military service. The young man in question approached three different employers, and in each instance was offered an engagement if ho could produce his registration certificate. This he could not do, as he had only turned ninetoen yoars, and being without evidence of any kind as to his age, ho was in a qunndnry. Unable to secure work, he ultimately sought the aid of the Defence Department, and, being too young to register, was furnishod with a temporary document that served to remove the suspicion that existed in regard to his ogfc
