ALLEGED WAR PROFITS CHEATING
— ♦ CHARGES AGAINST LONDON .MERCHANTS. l ' Alfred G. Edwards, William J. Stanfield, and Edgar Boundy, merchants, of Fcncourt, Fenchurch Street, E.C., were summoned at London Mansion House recently for conspiring with the late William Boundy to defraud the lulaud Revenue of large sums diie for income tax and excess profits duty. ■ For the Inland Revenue Department it was stated that in tho business of Edwards and Co.,' Edwards and Staniield wore described as partners and the Boundys" as clerk with fixed salaries. Altogether the Crown, it was alleged, had been defrauded of £1564 income tax and £4290 oxcess profits duty. The hearing was adjourned until November 13, bail being allowed in £500 each.
