NEGOTIATIONS ANNOUNCED. Stockholm, January 17. King Gustaf, in the Spcech from tho Thronej said he sincerely hoped that free Finland would co-operate with the other Scandinavian countries in a common effort towards pojico and progress. Ho announced tho .initiation of negotiations with Finland to ' settle the Aaland Island question. Referring to tho difficulties in connection with overseas trade, the King said that negotiations were in progress for the resumption of trade under conditions in harmony with Swedish independence and neutrality. —Aus.-N.Z.
