The Wellington riuminer Meeting will open at Trentham to-morrow, the first raoo starting at 11.30 a.m. A motor-bus service will run from Government Buildings, commencing at 9 o'clock a.m. Intending: passengers may b6ok seats at P. 1. ilooro and Oo.'s motor-bus station, llowen Street. Trains leave Lamhton Station as follow :-7.8, 8.30, 9.46 a.m:, 12.15, 12.30, and 1.20 p.m. Trains loave Trentham for Wellington as follow: —4.47, 5.30, u D 7x * -P' lll, . '^ e leaving Upper Hutt .for .Wellington at 6.5 p.m. each day a+ m°k s k° p Trentham. At-Trontham yesterday thero was a big attendance to aee the final R,illopß. The tan, inner grass, and course prpper were open, the latter track being restricted to juveniles with engagements at the meeting.
Of tho handicap horses, Johnny Wallter performed tho beßt, and of.tha sprinters Wrestler pleased most-. Host of tlio two-year-olds were, exercied on the grass, but accurate timing was impossible. Amongst those that shaped well were Almoner, .Demagogue, 80-Peep, Philomela, and Heathercote. Shortly after 4.30 a.m. Matilda was out with Ayah, and to the general eurprißo the former finished drat in a six furlongs bout in lmin. 18aec.
Jolmny Walker as usual worked with Menelaue, and this time he reversed the usual order of things by finishing in front at the end of ten furlongs, which took 2min. 12sec.
_ Mascot and Seadown ran seven furlongs in lmin. 33sec. Tho'former hail a neck tho best of it at tho finish after having the inside running. Tho stable companions. Probation and Devotion, ran a good mile, the lime being lmin. 46 3-sscc.
Adjutant, on the inside, and Miss de Yal ran ten furlongs on tho tail. Tho last mile took lmin. 49sec., and the pair appeared to be doing their-best.-Gamecock sprinted half a-mile on tho grass in 49sec. Tlio chestnut liarae seems to be coming back to form.
Vagabond, who haß a nasty cut on one of his leg£, ran six furlongs in lmin, 17 3-ssec., and his stable companion Ohortlo slightly bettered this performance. The pair worked separated, but ' were given similar tasks. • . . .
Wrestler, groatiy pleased his trainer by the way ho got over ftvo furlougs on the tan. - Tho time was lmin. Ibvi:.
Tho YaldJiurst pair Wishful and lvoesian ran four furlongs in fflseo.
Elocution took lmin. ssec. to run five furlongs.
An Interesting mile was done by Multiply on tho inside i of Alteration and Nobleman. The latter was always master of tho situation, and got to the end of the journey in lmin', 46sec. The time was nothing extraordinary, hilt the Cup fancy, who was heavily shod, was on the outside the whole way, and did lub task well. He had well over Bst. in tho saddle. Parisian Diamond, with his trainer in the saddle, ran four furlongs in 52sec.
Blairfinde ran a fast half-mile down tho hack, and Gimonidcs was tent Bix furlongs. Ho ran in blinkers, but did not seem .to put any dash into his work. George was of no use-to Gold Boult over a mile on the tan. ,
Croesus, who looks bright and well, is here for the Kelburn Plate, to be run on the second day of tho meeting. He will be ridden by B. Deeley.
The grass tracks at Trentham are setting a bit on the hard side, and a. few good showers before' Saturday would be welcomed by trainers.
For the first time for many years. T. F. Quinlivan will miss the Wellington Cup Meeting. .The trainer named had Hendra engaged, but ho was allowed to drop out of hiß engagements. The appeal in the Uncle Ned caso is to be heard at Wellington on Saturday evening at 8 o'clock. Mr. E. W. Allison will represont the Auckland District Committee. , . ' .
Parawanui was, in. error, left out of the acceptances for the Hcrrington Welter Handicap jit Foxton, A Press Association message from Sydney states that Saßanof, Sweet Corn, Blended, and Almo have been Bhipjpsd to New Zealaivl. Trainer G. Jones, who is recovering from an attack of appendicitis, was -unable to leave.-
