INDUSTRIES CLOSED DOWN. (Rcc. January 17,11.30 p.m.) New York, January 16. Owing to a shortage of coal, which is needed for the ships, the Government has closed down all industries east (? west) of the Mississippi for five days, and will close all industries and theatres every Monday for ten weeks. Monday's newspapers will be restricted to one edition. The order does not affect railroads, hospitals, public utilities, and war munitions.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
