Algerian oats are almost tho only variety offering, and as there is a good demand sales are not diifiou't to effect. Most of the sales are taking place at. about 3s. per bushel at country stations, and a large prime lino fit for seed has been taken at 3s. 2d. at a country station. There has been a fairly large quantity of grass seed changing hands, us on. account of the doubtful weather some buyers have been anxious to'secure supplies. The price is a little firmer, and for 231b to 561b. seed 35.. to 3s. 6d. at country stations has been paid, a.nd a little more ior prime heavy seed. lighter seed is worth from 2s. to 2s. 9fl.

Some business is being done at about £4 per ton at country stations for new oatslieaf chaff. Blenheim, chaff is being held up on account of the great Ecarcity of steam coal in the district at present, and thrashing is being delayed for the same reason. There has been' an' improved demand in Canterbury for chaff for the North Island.
