THE ATTACK ON THE CONVOY
ADMIRALTY REPORT ON DECEMBER INCIDENT (Rec. January 15, 11.35 p.m.) London, January 14. Sir Erio Geddos (First Lord of the Admiralty) stated that the Admiralty had confirmed the finding of the Court of Inquiry that tho escorting vessels did their best to protect the Scandinavian convoy which was attacked in December last. The escort fought in. a proper seamanlike manner, covering tho forces, and took all possible stepe to como to their assistance and prevent the tjscape of the enemy. The Admiralty Board was of opinion lhat tho circumstances preventing tho covering forces arriving in time were not preventable. Admiral Beatty's dispositions were the best possible with the available forces.—Reuter.
