MILITARY SERVICE BOARD
APPEALS HEARD YESTERDAY. The Third Wellington Military Service Board continued its sessions yesterday. Mr. W. Moorhouse presided, aud with him were Messrs. A. O'L. Considine and M. J. Mack. Captain P. Baldwin represented the military authorities. Joseph Thomas Bowers, bricklayer, Brooklyn, was the father of four children and should not have been called up. His appeal was allowed. The board adjourned indefinitely about fifty appeals made by the Seamen's Union for seamen and firemen. Mt. C. B. O'Donnell appeared for Harry Bates, carpenter, Brooklyn. Bates satisfied the board that he was not in Class A, aud his appeal was allowed. The appeal of Peter James M'Kce. wool-clnsscr, Petone, was adjourned for three months. William David Jones. Hataitai, was not in Class A. His appeal wan allowed. , . The following appellants also proved that they had a sufficient number of children to freo them from military obligations for the present: —Stanley J. A'Court, tramway motorman, Kilbirnie- Harry Adams, driver, Tory Street: John W. Bailey, carrier; James Walter Bolton, nailmaker; Alfred Ernest Cocker, tram conductor; David H. Costley, storeman; William Ewart Dempster, boot clicker, Kilbirnie. The case of Edward E. Brown, vho claimed to he in one of the later classes of the Second Division, was adjourned to the first sitting in June for tho production of further proof. Bernard M. Connolly, being over military age, had his appeal allowed.
