MORE GERMAN LIES. (Rec. January 14, 10.5 p.m.) Amsterdam, January 14. Though some of the German papers suggest that the hospital ship Rewa was struck by a mine, others have commenced a fresh campaign against hospital ships. Their comment includes a revival of the accusations on the misuse of the Red Cross. The "Koelnische Vollcszeitung" alleges that the Spanish officers left the ships because they discovered that they were carrying troops supposed to be suffering from fever, but who really were quite healthy. "This is not the first time. The greater part of the Dardanelles withdrawal was effected by means of hospital ships carrying a few wounded and many who were; not wounded, otherwise the greater part of the Dardanelles troops would have hoe'n destroyed." Tlie newspaper concludes by threatening to destroy the hospital shins.
The British Admiralty states that it has been definitely ascertained that there were no mines in the vicinity nf tho Rewa when sho sank.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
