STAFF CORPS APPOINTMENTS

AND TERRITORIAL FORCE

'l'ho following appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of oiliccrs of tho Now Zealand Staff Corps and Territorial I'oree have been rpproved:—

Appointments, Lieutenant (temporary captain) Henry Peacock, N.Z. Staff Corps, temporary rank of major whilst holding tlio appointment of Camp Commandant, Narrow Neck Camp. -Major Daniel James Swoetzer, Special Reserve Imperial Army (Retired List), is appointed Camp j<ljutanfc, Trentham Camp, as from December 3.

Captain (temporary major) Francis 1-lenry Lainpen, N.Z. Staff Corps, Camp Adjutant, Trentliam Camp, appointed to the Instructional Staff, N.Z. .Expeditionary l'orce, Training Camps, with the temporary rank of major. Second Lieutenant Charles -Gray, 11th Regiment (Taranaki lli(les), temporary rank of captain whilst holding tho appointment of Assistant Provost Marshal in a military district.

Captain /James Sutherland 1 , M.B,j M.S., Edin., N.Z. Medical Corps, is appointed a member of a Special District Medical Board.

Promotions and Transfers. New Zealand Army Pay Depart-ment.—Staff-Sergeant G. C. Boyes, honorary rank of lieutenant (temporary) and attached to tho N.Z. Army Pay Department whilst in chargo of a section (Transport Accounts) .at tho War Expenses Branch; Stalt-Quarter-master-Sergeant 0. A. Ileud, granted tho honorary rank of lieutenant (temporary), and attached to _ tho N.Z Army Pay Department whilst employed as Assistant Paymaster, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, Training Camps. 3rd (Auckland) Mounted Hides.--Lieutenant IT. M'C. Holden, Reserve of Officers, ceases to be attached for duty. 4th (Waikato) Mounted RiflesSecond Lieutenant W. E. Anderson to bo lieutenant. 6th (Manawatu) Mounted Rifles. — Major J. A. Somervillc, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, absorbed into tho establishment with his original rank and senority therein, viz., captain. Corps of New Zealand EngineersNo. 1 Field Company: Sergeant J. L. Davis, to ho 2nd lieutenant. New Zealand Post and Telograph Corps—(South Island Battalion): Sor-geant-Major A. D. Baggs, to bo 2nd lieutenant (on probation).

Ist (Canterbury) Regiment.—Colonel the Honourable G. J. Smith, T.D., N.Z. Expeditionary Forco, absorbed into tho establishment with his original rank and seniority thcroin, viz., colonel. Coast Defence Detachment.—Lieutenant D. Dobson, to bo captain; Captain D. Dobson, to be major.

6th (Hauraki) Regiment!.—Captain R. N. Morpeth, transferred to Reserve of Officers; Lieutenant J. W. Silcock, to be captain. Bbh (Southland) Regiment.—Lieutenant C. E. Butcher, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, absorbed into tho establishment with Fiis original rank and seniority, viz., major. 17th (Rualiino) Regiment.—Lieuten-ant-Colonel J. A. Cowles, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, absorbed into tho establishment with his original rank and seniority therein, viz., major. New Zealand Rifle Brigade (Earl of Liverpool's Own), Territorial—2nd Lieutenant E. Hulfcert, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, nusorbod with his original rank and seniority, viz., 2nd lieutenant; Lieutenant ". Brown, N.Z. j Expeditionary Force, aosorbed with his : original rank and seniority, viz., 2nd lieutenant; Captain G. B. Macmorran, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, absorbed with his original rank and seniority, viz., 2nd lieutenant. New Zealand Army Service Corns (No. 3 Company).—2nd Lieutenant M. W. Higginson, transferred to the Unattached List (b) General List. No. 4 Company: 2nd Lieutenant J. D. Swan is transferred to tho Unattached List (b) General List. _ | New Zialand Forces Motor Servico Corps (Motor-car Section)— The appointment of 2nd Lieuteuant on probation J. Alexander is confirmed.

New Zealand Medical Corps—The undermentioned are granted the temporary rank of captain. Dated November 27, 1917: —T. C. Frascr, M.8., 8.5., J. T. W. Wilkin, M.8., 8.5., F.R.C.S., Edin.

New Zealand Dental Corps—Lieutenants posted for duty with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force with the rank of captain:—J. S. Nicholson, R. 0. Phillips; lieutenants are granted the temporary rank of captain whilst doing duty in tho New_ Zealand Expeditionary Force training camps:— E. L. Renton, W. R. Reyburn, W. R. Johns.

Now Zealand Arffiy Nursing Service.' -Staff-Nurse Ellen Tuke to be sister; Gertrudo Ivy Barker, Nora Kathleen Dempsey, antl Amy Harris to be staff uurses.

Unattached List (b). —Lieutenant J. B. Mawson, New Zealand Expeditionary Force, absorbed with his original Tank and seniority, viz., lieutenant; 2nd Lieutenant W. C. I. Sumner and 2nd Lieutenant A. J. Veart to be lieutenants; G. S. Coldham to be 2nd lieutenant.

Unattached List (b), General List.— 2nd Lieutenant G. P. Natusch, Lieutenant R. Le C. Latter, and 2nd Lieutenant F. E. M'Kenzio, M.C., and Lieutenant W. E. Grant, all of tho New Zealand Expeditionary Force, absorbed with original rank and seniority, viz., second lieutenant: 2nd Lieutenant J. D. Swan from the New Zealand Army Service Corps, No. 4 Company, to bo second lieutenant; 2nd Lieutenant M. AV. Higginson, from tho Now Zealand Army Servico Corps, No. 3 Company, to be second lieutenant.
