MILK VENDORS FINED
PROSECUTIONS FOR ADULTERATION.
Parker and Osliorn, milk vendors, for whom Mr. H. P. O'Leary appeared, pleaded guilty to selling adulterated milk. Mr. O'Leary explained that the offence was committed in October last, a period of the year when the milk from the cows was not at its best. The defendants notified the Department of the poor quality of the milk. The milk was , not tampered with by the defendants in any way. A arcoorf r £10, with costs, was imposed. Minnie Walland, for whom Mr. H. E. Evans appeared, a small shopkeeper in Tory Street, also pleaded guilty to selling adulterated milk. It was explained by the Inspector to the Department that the defendant received her milk from a farmer who delivered it about 5 a.m. It was left in the stieet until the shop was opened at 7 a. id., and it was thus possible that it could be tampered with by other people. Defendant declared that she did tot tunwer with the milk in any way. but sold it in the same condition as she received it. A fine of 20s. and costs was in.posed.
